Unfortunately for the Group of Six, many of those schools lose a lot of their best players to the transfer portal. And some of those athletes become stars at Power Four schools and go on to be highly-rated NFL prospects.
But that also provides opportunities for G6 schools, as they can offer playing time for backups at P4 schools and give them chances to shine on the field rather than sit on the sideline.
The transfer portal is open just once this year, which is a change from years past and makes the upcoming days a bit more urgent for all college football programs.
Here’s a look at some of the most significant recent moves in the transfer portal:
Jahiem Johnson To Arkansas
Former Tulane cornerback Jahiem Johnson is heading to Arkansas to play for new Razorbacks head coach Ryan Silverfield, who likely has familiarity with Johnson considering Silverfield is the previous head coach at Memphis in the American Conference.
Johnson is a four-star transfer prospect and is the the seventh-best cornerback in the portal, according to 247Sports, and is the 123rd prospect overall.
A 6-foot, 189-pound redshirt sophomore last year, Johnson tallied four interceptions, 42 tackles, 13 passes defended, one tackle for loss, and one forced fumble in 2025. He was 70th in Pro Football Focus’ grades for cornerbacks (min. 490 snaps). He was also 82nd for pass coverage and 58th for run defense.
Bryant Williams To Arkansas
Bryant Williams, a four-star offensive tackle ranked sixth at his position and the 62nd overall transfer prospect, is going from Louisiana to Arkansas.
Williams, at 6-7, 335 pounds, was a redshirt junior in 2025, allowing zero sacks, 12 hurries, and 14 total pressures at left tackle. Over 1,267 snaps played, he’s allowed three sacks and 26 QB pressures in his career.
In PFF’s grades, he was 87th for blocking (min. 500 snaps) and 65th in run blocking this past season.

He’s the 131st-ranked transfer portal prospect, has three stars, and is 36th at his position.
Jeremiah Koger To Auburn
Jeremiah Koger, a 6-3, 209-pound three-star receiver with a ton of potential, is following Auburn head coach Alex Golesh from USF. He’s the 144th overall prospect and the 40th-best transfer prospect at wideout.
Koger played in three games in 2025, catching eight passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns. He had plenty of Power Four offers coming out of St. Frances Academy, including Wake Forest, Pitt, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Boston College, NC State, UCF, and Maryland.
Jayvontay Conner To Vanderbilt
Jayvontay Conner, a 6-4, 239-pound tight end who was a redshirt sophomore at East Carolina last year, could help Vanderbilt on the ground and through the air.
Conner caught 23 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns in 2025. He was also 19th in PFF’s blocking grades among TEs (min. 360 snaps).
Conner also played in nine games at ECU in 2024 after transferring from Ole Miss. The three-star tight end is the seventh-highest ranked TE in the transfer portal and the 129th prospect overall.
Emmanuel Oyebadejo To Florida
