College Football Best Bets & Predictions 2025 For Week 14

No matter if it’s MACtion or weekday CUSA, Group of Five football is fun to watch. After all, there’s a ton of great G5 programs this year.

Here’s my predictions for upcoming G5 games this week.

Charlotte vs. Tulane Prediction

I predict Tulane will win and cover the 29.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 52.5 total points.

The Green Wave weren’t extremely consistent on the offensive side of the ball to start the year, but I like how they’ve been playing in recent weeks. They’ve scored at least 35 points in each of their last three contests at Memphis, against FAU, and at Temple.

And now they get to return home for their regular season finale with plenty on the line.

With Jake Retzlaff at quarterback as well as Shazz Preston, Omari Hayes, and Bryce Bohanon at wide receiver, I think Tulane’s offense will continue to thrive.

And I believe Tulane will take advantage of the matchup with Charlotte, which is allowing the fourth-most points in the country (37.2 per game) and the third-most yards (472.7 per contest).

I also think Tulane’s defense will put together a strong performance against the 49ers, who are scoring the fifth-fewest points in the FBS (15.6 per game).

I just don’t foresee a well-coached team like Tulane letting this game be unnecessarily close.

JMU vs. Coastal Carolina Prediction

I predict JMU will win but Coastal Carolina will cover the 21.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 53.5 total points.

The Dukes are on the road for this game, and they haven’t been quite the same team that they have been at home. Their one loss was on the road, granted it was against Power Four opponent Louisville, but the Dukes have also had to battle for wins away from home. They beat Georgia State 14-7 and Marshall 35-23, for example.

So while I don’t think JMU will win by more than three touchdowns, I do expect the Dukes to be in control of this contest.

The Dukes are fifth in the nation in total defense (261.1 yards per game allowed) and 11th in scoring defense (16.55 points per game allowed). They are also 17th in the country in scoring offense (35.9 PPG) and 23rd in total offense (444.7 YPG).

With Alonza Barnett III at quarterback, Wayne Knight at running back, and Trent Hendrick, Tyler Brown, Jacob Thomas, and Immanuel Bush on defense, I think JMU will enjoy some success on both sides of the ball en route to a win.

Oregon State vs. Washington State Prediction

I predict Washington State will win but Oregon State will cover the 13.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Under 42.5 total points.

Considering the last clash between these two teams was so close – and low-scoring – I think we’ll see a similar result this time around. But I think the Cougars will end up winning.

Led by linebackers Parker McKenna and Caleb Francl, defensive lineman Isaac Terrell, and defensive back Tucker Large, Wazzu’s defense has been pretty solid. The Cougars have limited their last seven opponents to 24 points or less and held four of those teams to 10 points or less.

And on offense, Wazzu has scored at least 20 points in seven of its last eight games. And against Oregon State, I think that’s all the Cougars will need to win.

WSU quarterback Zevi Eckhaus has thrown for 1,563 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions on a 64% completion rate and has rushed for 274 yards and seven TDs. I think he has one more strong performance and finds a way to help Wazzu win this game.

Toledo vs. Central Michigan Prediction

I predict Toledo will win but Central Michigan will cover the 10.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 45.5 total points.

Toledo is perhaps the most well-rounded team in the MAC. The Rockets are first in the league in scoring offense (32.5 points per game), scoring defense (13 PPG allowed), total offense (422.8 yards per game), and total defense (240.9 YPG allowed).

But Central Michigan isn’t that far off. For example, the Chippewas are third in the MAC in scoring offense (25.7 PPG) and fourth in scoring defense (22.8 PPG allowed).

So that’s why I could see this being a close game. That’s also why I think both teams could be exchanging scoring drives late, which leads me to believe this game will go Over 45.5 total points.

But I ultimately think the Rockets have enough talent on both sides of the ball to win here.

Quarterback Tucker Gleason has thrown for 2,417 yards, 21 touchdowns, and nine interceptions on a 65% completion rate while rushing for 113 yards and four TDs. Chip Trayanum has rushed for 856 yards and 10 touchdowns. Junior Vandeross III has caught 71 passes for 876 yards and 11 touchdowns.

And on defense, linebacker K’Von Sherman leads the Rockets with 79 tackles while defensive back Emmanuel McNeil-Warren has 67 tackles. DB Braden Awls has five interceptions, and defensive lineman Malachi Davis has a team-high 5.5 sacks.

Kennesaw State vs. Liberty Prediction

I predict Kennesaw State will win and cover the 2.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Under 55.5 total points.

The fact that Liberty is playing at home is giving me a little pause. The Owls are 2-3 on the road this season. Granted, two of those games were against Wake Forest and Indiana, but they also lost to Jax State by nine points and beat New Mexico State by just three points away from home as well.

And despite all of Liberty’s issues this season, the Flames are 3-2 at home. Still, I expect Kennesaw State to find a way to earn a narrow victory.

The Owls have talent on both sides of the ball. They’re top three in CUSA in scoring offense, having put up 27.4 points per game, and are third in the league in scoring defense, as they have allowed 23.5 PPG.

After Owls quarterback Amari Odom threw for 387 yards and five touchdowns on 24-of-34 passing to go with a rushing touchdown last week against Missouri State, I think he will lead the Owls to another win and a CUSA title berth today.
