Unfortunately for the Group of Six, many of those schools lose a lot of their best players to the transfer portal. And some of those athletes become stars at Power Four schools and go on to be highly-rated NFL prospects.
But that also provides opportunities for G6 schools, as they can offer playing time for backups at P4 schools and give them chances to shine on the field rather than sit on the sideline. Or sometimes they add FCS players and they flourish.
The transfer portal is open just once this year, which is a change from years past and makes the upcoming days a bit more urgent for all college football programs.
Here’s a look at the highest-ranked transfer prospects, according to 247Sports, going to G6 schools who are among the top 300 overall transfer prospects:

Arhmad Branch & Luke Kromenhoek To USF
South Florida has the highest-ranked transfer class out of the G6 so far this offseason, and it’s led by two standout players from Power Four schools. After losing multiple skill position players, the Bulls are addressing it through the transfer portal.
Arhmad Branch, a 6-foot, 185-pound wide receiver, is going to USF. In three seasons, he’s played in 15 games with nine appearances and four starts in 2025. The former four-star high school recruit caught 14 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns this past season.
Branch, a three-star transfer prospect, is ranked 46th among wide receivers in the transfer portal and 217th among all players in the portal.
Former Mississippi State quarterback Luke Kromenhoek is also transferring to USF.
Kromenhoek was also a four-star high school recruit who played his true freshman season at Florida State. The 6-4, 220-pound signal caller played in six games, starting two, and threw for 502 yards and three touchdowns with 113 yards rushing. He became the only true freshman in program history to throw for three TDs in his first career start.
Then he went to Mississippi State and redshirted, playing just three games in 2025. He went 5-for-9 passing for 73 yards while rushing for 25 yards and one TD.
Kromenhoek is the 255th overall prospect and, with three stars, is ranked as the 23rd-best quarterback.
Kyran Duhon To Tulsa
Kyran Duhon is a prospect many Tulsa fans should be excited about.
Duhon was at Oklahoma State this past year, posting 16 tackles with two tackles for loss. The season before, he made the All-Conference USA second team while at UTEP. He was second in the conference with seven sacks. He also tallied 43 tackles, seven TFLs, and two passes defended.
Duhon is a three-star transfer prospect, is ranked 235th among all players, and is the 28th-best EDGE prospect in the portal.

Jeremiah Harrison To JMU
James Madison, with Billy Napier as its head coach, has the top-ranked transfer class in the Sun Belt. East Tennessee State transfer wide receiver Jeremiah Harrison is one reason why.
Harrison, a three-star player, is the 246th overall transfer prospect and the 52nd-best transfer wide receiver.
At 6-1, 178 pounds, Harrison caught 38 passes for 652 yards and five touchdowns this past season as a freshman. That earned him a spot on the All-Southern Conference Freshman Team.
Ashton Gray To East Carolina
After losing running back London Montgomery to Florida, East Carolina is adding former North Texas running back Ashton Gray.
The three-star running back played in 11 games as a redshirt freshman in 2025. He ran for 225 yards and three touchdowns on 42 carries while catching one pass for nine yards.
Gray, a three-star transfer prospect, is the 268th-best player in the portal overall and is the 21st-best running back.
Taz Reddicks To UNLV
Going into his second year at UNLV, head coach Dan Mullen continues to add transfer portal talent.
Wide receiver Taz Reddicks is joining the Rebels after spending the first three seasons of his career at Oregon State. The 5-11, 194-pound wideout caught 47 passes for 613 yards with no touchdowns the past two seasons with 30 receptions for 391 yards happening in 2025.
Reddicks is a three-star transfer prospect, ranking 58th at his position and 297th among all players.
Jaylin Lucas To Tulane
Former Florida State running back – and dynamic kick returner – Jaylin Lucas is headed to Tulane.
In his last two years at FSU, he ran for 173 yards on 29 carries with no touchdowns and caught 14 passes for 127 yards and no TDs. But he was much more impactful at Indiana the two seasons prior.
As a freshman in 2022, he ran for 278 yards and three TDs on 56 carries while adding 83 yards on 17 receptions. A year later, he totaled 275 yards and two TDs on 67 rushing attempts while recording 247 yards and two TDs on 34 catches.
He was especially impactful as a returner. He earned All-American honors in 2022 and was an All-Big Ten returner as well in 2023. He tallied 623 yards and two touchdowns on 23 kick returns in 2022 and followed that with 572 yards and one touchdown on 22 attempts in 2023.
Lucas is a three-star transfer prospect who is ranked 25th among running backs and 300th overall.
