JMU still has a chance to make the Sun Belt Championship, but the Dukes can’t afford another loss.
JMU was a perfect 4-0 to start the season, including a 70-50 win over North Carolina. But the Dukes have gone 2-2 in conference play since then. Regarded as one of the top teams in the Group of Five right now, they likely need to win every game for the rest of the regular season to have an opportunity at winning their first Sun Belt title.
After beating Southern Miss last week, JMU hopes to win back-to-back games with a matchup against Georgia State at home this week.

Georgia State vs. JMU Prediction
I predict JMU will win but Georgia State will cover the spread at +16.5 points. I also project the game will go Under 54.5 total points.
JMU is 6-2 overall this season for a reason. The Dukes have a talented roster. But even when they’ve won lately, they haven’t exactly done so decisively.
In JMU’s last game, the Dukes won 32-15 over Southern Miss at home. Southern Miss is 1-7 this season and had fired head coach Will Hall. JMU’s offense also hasn’t been spectacular, as the Dukes have averaged 21.8 points per game in their last four contests.
The Panthers may be on a five-game losing streak, but three of those games were decided by a single possession. Also, they did beat Vanderbilt earlier this year.
So I could see Georgia State managing to keep this matchup close.
