Both Louisiana and Arkansas State have a chance to earn bowl-eligibility this late in the season.
In fact, the Red Wolves still have an outside shot at winning the Sun Belt West, even after their loss to Southern Miss. They’re 5-5 overall right now with a 4-2 mark in league play.
They started the season 1-4, but then they won four straight games against Texas State, South Alabama, Georgia Southern, and Troy before losing to USM 27-21 in ASU’s last outing.
Louisiana, on the other hand, is 4-6 overall and 3-3 against teams in the Sun Belt. That means the Ragin’ Cajuns need to win both of their last two games of the regular season to make it to a bowl.
But they’ve won back-to-back games over South Alabama and Texas State, so maybe they are finding a rhythm in the final month of the season.

Louisiana vs. Arkansas State Prediction
I predict Arkansas State will win and cover the 2.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Under 53.5 total points.
Led by linebackers Aaron Alexander and Kyle Taylor as well as defensive back AG McGhee, the Red Wolves’ defense has been pretty solid in recent weeks. Over their last four games, they’ve given up an average of 18.75 points per game. For the season, they’re fifth in the Sun Belt in scoring defense with 26.5 PPG allowed.
I think the Red Wolves’ defense will show up at home with bowl-eligibility on the line.
And offensively, Arkansas State hasn’t been phenomenal. But the Red Wolves still have some talented players on that side of the ball.
Jaylen Raynor has thrown for 2,454 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions on a 68% completion rate while rushing for 354 yards and a team-high seven TDs. Devin Spencer (428 yards and one TD rushing) and Kenyon Clay (405 yards and two TDs) are ASU’s leading rushers. Corey Rucker leads the team with 656 yards on 51 catches with one TD through the air, while Chauncy Cobb paces the Red Wolves with 63 receptions while adding 634 yards.
I expect Arkansas State to play complementary football and earn a win here.
