Memphis didn’t quite reach the AAC Championship game, but the Tigers proved they are still one of the top programs in the league in 2023.
They went 6-2 in league play and 10-3 overall, defeating Iowa State 36-26 in the Liberty Bowl. That was one of the few bowl games where a Group of Five team defeated a Power Five program.
The Tigers’ offense was often sparked by Blake Watson, a star running back who transferred from Old Dominion. And going into 2024, the Tigers have once again added talent through the transfer portal, including over 10 players who arrive from other FBS programs.
