Miami (Ohio) and Buffalo are both in contention for a MAC Championship appearance. But there is little room for error for either team.
After starting the season 0-3 overall, the RedHawks gained some control of the conference with a 4-0 record in league play. But quarterback Dequan Finn stepped away from the program to focus on preparing for the pro level, and Miami has now lost back-to-back games against Ohio and Toledo – two teams that also could make it to the MAC title game.
Miami (5-5, 4-2) now has to face another solid team in the MAC, the Bulls (5-5, 4-2).
The Bulls were one of the favorites to win the conference going into the season, but it hasn’t always been smooth. They started off 2-3 overall, but those three losses were a competitive game with Minnesota and one-possession contests against Troy and UConn, two solid Group of Five teams in 2025.
Since then, Buffalo has won three out of five games with victories over Eastern Michigan, UMass, and Bowling Green.
Both Miami and Buffalo are on the bubble in terms of bowl-eligibility as well, so there’s plenty of significance in this contest.

Miami (Ohio) vs. Buffalo Prediction
I predict Buffalo will win and cover the 2.5-point spread. I also project the game will go Under 38.5 total points.
That is a low Over/Under, but I do think these defenses are going to be the stars of this game. That said, I like Buffalo’s offense a little bit more than Miami’s right now. I expect that to be the difference in this contest.
Buffalo is fourth in the MAC in total offense (361.7 yards per game) and scoring (24.2 points per game). Bulls quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson has thrown for 1,947 yards, 13 touchdowns, and nine interceptions on a 59.1% completion rate. He’s also rushed for 136 yards and two TDs.
Nik McMillan (49 receptions for 712 yards and three TDs) and Victor Snow (49 catches for 622 yards and seven TDs) are Buffalo’s leading receivers. Al-Jay Henderson leads the Bulls with 702 yards and five TDs rushing.
Comparatively, Miami scored just three points in a 24-3 loss against Toledo in its first game without former quarterback Dequan Finn. My hopes aren’t high for the RedHawks on offense right now.
And led by linebacker Red Murdock, who is fourth in the country with 114 tackles, Buffalo’s defense is a solid unit. The Bulls are third in the MAC in scoring defense with 21.4 PPG allowed and fourth in total defense with 327 YPG allowed.
I think Buffalo has enough talent on both sides of the ball to earn a win here.
