Even though he played in the Sun Belt, Georgia State offensive tackle Travis Glover showed potential against elite competition.
When Georgia State was taking on LSU this past season, the Panthers had the ball on second-and-12 on LSU’s 44-yard line early in the second quarter. On a run play designed for running back Marcus Carroll, Glover exploded out of his stance and immediately pushed the defender across from him back on his heels.
Glover kept pushing his opponent toward the sideline, which opened up a huge gap for Carroll. This gave Carroll the space he needed to eventually reach the end zone for a touchdown.
Glover may not have gotten an NFL Combine invite, but he’s capable of playing at the next level.
Where Did Travis Glover Get Drafted?
Glover was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He was selected with the 202nd overall pick.
Travis Glover’s Stats And Highlights
Glover was highly effective at left tackle in 2023. He made the All-Sun Belt first team that season.
At 6-foot-6, 323 pounds, Glover allowed just 12 pressures with five hurries, three quarterback hits, and four sacks allowed. Among FBS offensive tackles from this year’s draft class who played at least 509 snaps, that tied for the 15th-fewest pressures allowed. He ranked 21st in Pro Football Focus’ grades of tackles for pass blocking while ranking 41st for run blocking.
Glover was a five-year starter for the Panthers and ranks second all time at GSU with 57 career starts. He helped the Panthers average 211 rushing yards per game during those five seasons, including a school-record 241.6 yards per contest in 2019.
Travis Glover’s NFL Comparison And Draft Profile
I project Glover’s playing style in the NFL will be similar to Darnell Wright of the Chicago Bears. Both can play multiple positions on either side of the line and are of similar size, as Wright is 6-6 and 333 pounds.
Glover has a big frame and is clearly strong. He often pushed opponents off the ball in the run game.
While he could improve his technique, he’s quite active with his feet and hands. He keeps his feet moving at the point of attack, which helps him stay in control.
Glover has plenty of experience after his career at Georgia State. His skill and knowledge could set him up for success in the NFL.
