San Jose State appeared poised to be one of the top teams in the Mountain West early in the season. The Spartans won three straight games to open the year, lost in overtime at Washington State, and then bounced back with a victory over Nevada.
But SJSU has lost two of its last three conference games, so it seems unlikely the Spartans will be competing for a league championship this year. But at 5-3 overall, they are still just a win away from bowl-eligibility.
Achieving that will be tough this week, though, as the Spartans go on the road to take on Oregon State. The Beavers will be desperate for a win after losing their last three contests and are hoping to stay above .500 as they have a record of 4-4.

San Jose State vs. Oregon State Prediction
I predict Oregon State will win and cover the spread at -3. I also project the game will go Under 56.5 total points.
Neither team is playing particularly well recently. The Beavers’ current losing streak began with a loss at Nevada, which is 3-7 this season. Then they fell against UNLV by eight points at home. Most recently, Cal defeated OSU 44-7.
I wouldn’t blame anyone for not having the most trust in Oregon State right now.
However, I don’t think SJSU is playing at its best, either. The Spartans lost 33-10 at Fresno State in their most recent game and barely beat Wyoming, which is 2-7 this season, 24-14 before that.
SJSU’s offense hasn’t been playing very consistently. In a low-scoring matchup, I think OSU could win by a touchdown at home.
