With a win, either San Jose State or Utah State will have a winning record in Mountain West play after this game.
The Aggies were 3-1 overall just a few weeks ago but dropped to .500 after road losses to Vanderbilt and Hawaii. But USU did beat Air Force earlier this year and is looking to get back on track toward contending for a spot in the Mountain West Championship.
San Jose State entered this season with expectations to make it to the league championship, but the Spartans have been disappointing thus far. They’re 2-4 overall with one FBS win against New Mexico a couple weeks ago.

San Jose State vs. Utah State Prediction
I predict Utah State will win and cover the four-point spread. I also project the game will go Over 61.5 total points.
The strength of both of these teams is offense. Utah State is fourth in the Mountain West in total offense with 423 yards per game while San Jose State is fifth with 409.83 per game. Meanwhile, USU is 10th in total defense with 435.17 yards per game allowed while SJSU is ninth with 419.5 yards per contest given up.
Both teams also have high-flying passing attacks. SJSU leads the Mountain West with 309 yards per game through the air, and USU is fourth with 254.67 yards per contest.
Both teams are coming off of disappointing losses. Utah State most recently fell 44-26 at Hawaii, and San Jose State saw a lead slip away late in a loss at Wyoming. So both programs will be eager to rebound here.
But I think USU will be just a little bit better at home. USU quarterback Bryson Barnes has passed for 1,318 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just two interceptions on a 64% completion rate while rushing for 309 yards and six TDs. With playmakers like running back Miles Davis (416 yards and three touchdowns rushing and 140 yards and three touchdowns on 19 catches) as well as wide receivers Braden Pegan (27 catches for 453 yards and four TDs) and Brady Boyd (24 catches for 356 yards and three TDs), I think USU’s offense will thrive. I also believe the Aggies will do just enough on defense late to earn a win.
