How Did 2020 FCS-To-FBS Transfers Do?

Sam Herder by Sam Herder
January 14, 2021
article-generic

Around 99 FCS players transferred to the FBS for the 2020 season. That is much higher than the roughly 50 FCS players that transferred up a subdivision in 2019.

Of course, the 2020 FCS season being postponed to the spring resulted in many of these transfers. The number more than doubled once it was clear the FCS fall season was in jeopardy.

Below is a list of these transfers and how they did in 2020. The full list of 2020 FCS-to-FBS transfers can be found here.

By-the-Numbers:

  • Of the 99 transfers, about 25 of them could be considered as full-time starters or players that started at least half of the games.
  • 10 players earned All-Conference honors.
  • 40 players did not see game action — a combination of not playing, redshirting, sitting out due to transfer rules, injuries, opting out or no longer being listed on the roster.
