A week ago, we watched South Carolina State (4), Bethune-Cookman, Delaware State, and Grambling State (3) extend their win streaks, a MEAC matchup draw 47,266 to Lincoln Financial Field on a Thursday night, Southern lose its seventh consecutive game for the first time in 44 years, and North Carolina A&T give up 60-plus points for the second time this season.
As we enter the final weeks of the regular season, divisional races in the SWAC continue to heat up while the MEAC’s elite look to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

5. Prairie View A&M (6-3, 4-1 SWAC) at Alabama A&M (4-5, 1-4 SWAC), Saturday, 3:00 PM (SWAC TV)
Alabama A&M has struggled offensively in recent weeks, held to 318 yards and 23 points in its last two games. Now, they must turn their focus to the SWAC’s best defense when they host Prairie View A&M. Winners of four in a row against the Bulldogs, the Panthers look to regroup after dropping their first conference game against Alabama State. While PV quarterback Cameron Peters had his share of issues last week, turning the ball over four times over the span of five drives, he was still responsible for 295 yards of total offense while passing for three touchdowns.

4. Delaware State (6-3, 2-0 MEAC) at Morgan State (3-6, 0-2 MEAC), Friday, 7:00 PM (ESPNU)
Playing in a second nationally televised game in as many weeks, Delaware State has been one of the better stories through the first ten weeks of the season. The Bears, though, have won six straight and 10 of the last 11 meetings with the Hornets. Quarterback Raymond Moore III looks to build on his 300-plus yard, four-touchdown performance from last week when he faces the Hornets defense, which has allowed 30.6 over their last five contests.

3. Howard (4-5, 1-1 MEAC) at South Carolina State (6-3, 2-0 MEAC), Saturday, 1:30 PM (ESPN+)
No post-COVID MEAC team has won a conference title with two losses. That should be motivation for Howard, which has dropped five of their last six meetings against the Bulldogs. South Carolina State quarterback William Atkins IV has been hot during league play, passing for 791 yards and scoring six total touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Bison allowed 478 yards in the air in last weekend’s loss to North Carolina Central.

2. Bethune-Cookman (5-4, 4-1 SWAC) at Grambling State (6-3, 3-2 SWAC), Saturday, 3:00 PM (SWAC TV)
The Tigers were less-than-stellar offensively without quarterback C’zavian Teasett last week, but were able to rally around their defense and special teams in their win over AAMU. They will need a similar effort if they aim to slow down Bethune-Cookman’s highly productive offense. The Wildcats have averaged 38.6 points over their last seven games. Meanwhile, Grambling, who snapped their four-game losing streak against Cookman in their previous meeting in 2023, hasn’t scored more than 37 points since their season opener.

1. Texas Southern (4-4, 3-2 SWAC) at Alabama State (6-2, 4-1 SWAC), Saturday, 3:00 PM (SWAC TV)
Due to a shoulder injury suffered last week, Alabama State will have to finish its conference slate without quarterback Andrew Body. Though the Hornets have won nine of their last ten meetings against Texas Southern, the SWAC’s best scoring offense may have to rely on their defense and running back Jamarie Hostzclaw (534 rushing yards, four touchdowns) if they plan to stay in the mix for the SWAC East Division Title. Texas Southern has divisional title aspirations of their own, but will have to rebound after being held to 14 points last week.
