Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
47: Ryan Greenhagen, LB (Jr.) — Fordham
The FCS is rich in defensive talent in 2020. Of all the standout players, Fordham is the only program to have two HERO Sports preseason All-Americans at linebacker.
Ryan Greenhagen is on our First Team while Glenn Cunningham is on the Third Team.
Greenhagen has been a beast in his first two seasons with the Rams. He has earned HERO Sports Freshman and Sophomore All-American honors while being named to the All-Patriot League Second Team in 2018 and the First Team in 2019.
At 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds, Greenhagen is a physical linebacker that disrupts offenses all over the field. In just two seasons, he has racked up a combined 188 total tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks.
His 82 solo tackles last year tied for the most in the FCS. And Greenhagen’s 10.3 total tackles per game ranked 12th.
