Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Throughout the May-August months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.
The full 99-1 countdown/schedule can be found here.
*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.
46: Dalton Kincaid, TE (Jr.) — San Diego
Kincaid played just one year of high school football. The lack of experience resulted in zero scholarship offers for the Las Vegas product. San Diego saw the potential in Kincaid’s size and athleticism, and he signed with the Toreros.
That potential ended up making an impact right away in Kincaid’s true freshman season. At 6-foot-5 and currently weighing 230 pounds, he caught 11 touchdowns off of 24 receptions in 2018. Kincaid earned HERO Sports Freshman All-American honors.
He took his game to another level last season, hauling in 44 passes for 835 yards and eight touchdowns. Kincaid was named on the All-Pioneer Football League Second Team, a HERO Sports Sophomore All-American and was an AP All-American Third Team selection.
Kincaid enters 2020 a preseason HERO Sports First Team All-American.
The Pioneer Football League has had success in sending tight ends to the NFL, notably Drake tight end Eric Saubert getting selected in the fifth round of the 2017 draft and Dayton’s Adam Trautman getting drafted in the third round this year. Former USD tight end Ross Dwelley signed an undrafted free agent deal with San Francisco in 2018 and started six games for the 49ers in 2019.
Kincaid has big-time potential to be another PFL tight end to play pro ball.
