David Beaty is the latest college football coach to get upset at the media.
The third-year Kansas head coach isn't taking the aggressive steps that Brian Kelly and Tom Herman have at Notre Dame and Texas, respectively, but following a reporter's tweet on injury news, Beaty said he will no longer release injury reports to the media.
Benton Smith of the Lawrence Journal-World broke news that running back Denzell Evans — a former Arkansas transfer who had 29 rushing yards last year — missed Monday's practice.
KU senior RB Denzell Evans watched practice this morning, on crutches.

Beaty wasn't thrilled. He opened his post-practice press conference by thanking reporters for their professionalism before addressing the issue.
"I allow 15 minutes at the beginning of certain practices for you guys to come out there, and the intent of that is not to deliver news from our sideline when it comes to injuries from our players. I would think that would go without saying.
“I want to continue to allow that to happen, but I will have no choice but to cut that off if we can’t cut that (reporting injuries) off. And I know we can. I know we can. I think just saying it and telling each other is probably the best thing to do so communication is good.”

He did not say if the incident will result in reduced access — which is currently the first 20 minutes of eight fall practices — but did say he will no longer discuss injuries with the media.
“I was going to give an injury report today, but it doesn’t give us an advantage. There’s no advantage for me to give an injury report. There’s nothing that’s going to help us win the game right now with giving that report. So I’m not going to talk about injuries when it comes to our football team.”
Kansas opens the season on Saturday, Sept. 2, at home against Southeast Missouri State.
