Minkah Fitzpatrick is the subject of positional uncertainty entering the 2018 NFL Draft. A two-time All-American defensive back at Alabama, he played everywhere on the defensive side of the ball in helping the Tide win two national championships.
Will the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder be drafted as a cornerback or safety? Or both? And will any ask him to play receiver?
Kidding. But not really because he would love to get some snaps on offense.
Fitzpatrick was a two-way star at Saint Peter's Prep in Old Bridge, N.J., and a five-star cornerback prospect in the 2015 class. He considered playing receiver in college and says some schools brought it up.
"They knew I could play receiver in college if I really wanted to," he told HERO Sports this week. "Most teams wanted me to play DB. They thought I would be better off at DB. But I still think I could play receiver. If they wanted me to line up in the NFL at receiver, I'd definitely be willing and able to do it for sure."
Fitzpatrick talks about his position preference on the Hot Route, along with returning to his hometown of Old Bridge recently (video below) and if he has an idea of when he'll be drafted.
