Know Your Line: NFL Odds for Week 5, 2017

Know Your Line: NFL Odds for Week 5, 2017

After a crazy week 3 of upsets, the NFL betting world was restored to order a bit during week 4. Not nearly as many underdogs covered as they did during a historic week 3.

RELATED: Know Your Line: College Football Odds for Week 6, 2017

Before I give you the NFL odds for week 5, let's stroll down memory lane from a week ago.

The good: I told you to get your betting week started right by taking Green Bay at home over Chicago on Thursday Night Football. The game was never close.

The bad: I predicted the Rams would have their first stinker of the year in Dallas. And they went and won straight up. My bad.

The ugly: I told you to take Tennessee -1 at Houston ,and the Titans went and gave up 57 points.

How about we mosey right along and dive into week 5, shall we?

[All spreads are courtesy of Sportsbook.ag. Lines fluctuate as bets are made, so check out their website for up-to-the-minute odds.]

New York Giants -3.5 vs. Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers are 0-3-1 ATS this year, and the Giants are poised for a breakout game.

This is the one. Take New York.

Cincinnati Bengals -3 vs. Buffalo Bills

Guess who is one of only two NFL teams with a perfect 4-0 mark ATS?

That would be the Buffalo Bills, and considering how awful the Bengals have looked this year – an easy win against Cleveland notwithstanding – take the AFC East team to cover once again.

Cleveland Browns -1 vs. New York Jets

Raise your hand if you're bursting with excitement over this matchup.

That's what I thought.

Take the Browns because there's no way they can possibly go 0-16, right? Right?

Pittsburgh Steelers -7.5 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Massive underdogs continue to cover the spread in 2017 (see week 3). Take the Jags running game to slow the tempo down and keep this one close.

Tennessee Titans -3 at Miami Dolphins

I still can't believe Jay Cutler has yet to pull a hamstring or strain his ego.

Whether it happens this week or not, the Dolphins look like they're simply going through the motions.

Tennessee rebounds from a terrible week 4 defeat.

Indianapolis Colts -1.5 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Holy smokes what a stinker. Although, I bet you didn't know San Francisco is an impressive 3-1 ATS this year.

I like the 49ers to cover the spread with a 4-2 victory.

Yeah, I said it.

Philadelphia Eagles -6.5 vs. Arizona Cardinals

There is only one team in the entire NFL that is a perfect 0-4 ATS this year.

Ladies and gentlemen: YOUR Arizona Cardinals.

Eagles win in a landslide.

[divider]

Detroit Lions -2.5 vs. Carolina Panthers

Cam Newton was not only just a distraction to the Carolina Panthers, but also to the entire NFL with his outrageously sexist remarks this week.

Detroit is already 3-1 against the spread this year. Make it 4-1 after this home victory.

Los Angeles Rams -1.5 vs. Seattle Seahawks

Every so often a regular season contest reveals the changing of the guard in a division.

I like the Rams to win on a late field goal to turn the NFC West upside-down.

Oakland Raiders -2.5 vs. Baltimore Ravens

There's nothing more difficult when betting than when a starter goes down and the backup QB makes his first start of the season. EJ Manual is no stranger to the starting role, but your guess is as good as mine as to how he'll perform on Sunday.

I like Khalil Mack and the defense to take over, keep it close, and for Oakland to win by 3.

[divider]

Dallas Cowboys -2.5 vs. Green Bay Packers

Doesn't it feel like the Cowboys are returning to the mean after last season's surprising 13-3 record?

Forget the points and take the Pack moneyline at plus 105.

Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs – Pick 'Em

Now that Deshaun Watson has had his breakout game, and the Chiefs slipped by the Redskins last week to remain undefeated, this Sunday night matchup just got a whole lot sexier.

Along with Buffalo, KC is the only other squad with a perfect 4-0 record ATS, but I think Watson shows every NFL fan watching on TV what college football fans already know: The guy is a winner.

Minnesota Vikings -3 at Chicago Bears

I just can't put money on a rookie quarterback on a team with wide receivers who can't hang onto the ball.

The Mitch Trubisky era begins with a thud on Monday Night Football and the Vikings win by ten.
