When the St. Louis Rams selected Sam Bradford with the first-overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Oklahoma quarterback became the third native Oklahoman selected first overall pick and the first in 34 years.

The 82 players selected with the top-overall pick in the NFL Draft have come from two different countries, 30 different states (plus the District of Columbia) and 78 different cities. Twenty states claim multiple players, 12 have three or more, seven have at least four and only three have at least five.

Texas leads the way with 10 players — including most recently Myles Garrett (Arlington) — followed by by California (eight) and Alabama (five). Alabama is also one of just two states with cities who've produced multiple players. Both Bo Jackson and Jameis Winston hail from Bessemer, while both Eli and Peyton Manning are from New Orleans.
There hasn't been a foreign-born player selected with the first pick since 1943, when the Detroit Lions drafted Georgia halfback Frank Sinkwich, who was born in Starjak, Croatia. He remains the only top pick born outside the United States.
Each of the last 13 picks have come from different states and there haven't been back-to-back picks from the state since Californians David Carr (Bakersfield) and Carson Palmer (Fresno) went in 2002 and 2003, respectively.
