NFL Training Camp Roster Breakdown By College, Conference, Player Age

NFL Training Camps are opening around the league and teams are getting a look at their 90-man rosters, trying to narrow that down to 53 by the time the season rolls around. With nearly 3,000 players trying to secure a spot on a roster, let's take a look at where these players came from.

We'll take a look at the colleges and conferences that produce the most NFL talent, and look at the age breakdown of players in camp right now.

TRAINING CAMP ROSTER BREAKDOWN BY SCHOOL

As you would expect, a few SEC teams lead the pack in terms of schools that send the most talent into the NFL. Of the nearly 3,000 players on training camp rosters, three SEC teams have sent the most.

LSU leads the way with 59 players on NFL Training Camp rosters, while Alabama is next with 53 and Florida third with 52. USC is the fourth school with at least 50 players on training camp rosters, with Miami (FL), Florida State and Ohio State next in line.

Here's all the schools with at least 30 players in the NFL:

TRAINING CAMP ROSTER BREAKDOWN BY CONFERENCE

If the graph above didn't tip you off, let's jump into the top conferences in terms of NFL production. The SEC tops them all in all metrics, with 492 total players, or 16.9 percent of NFL rosters. The Big Ten (376 players, 12.9 percent), ACC (371 players, 12.8 percent) and Pac-12 (353 players, 12.2 percent) are next in line.

While the Pac-12 is fourth in total players, the conference is actually second only to the SEC in terms of players per school. The Pac-12 has only 12 schools compared to 14 each in the SEC, Big Ten and ACC. Per team the Pac-12 sends 29.4 players to the NFL, which leads the Big Ten (26.8) and ACC (26.5) and trails only the SEC (35.1).

Here's the full breakdown of NFL Training Camp rosters by college conference (or lower divisions):

Those little slices at the top that don't have labels break down like this: FBS Independent — 62; Division 3 — 13; International — 11; NAIA — 7; Basketball Schools — 5; Junior College — 3; None — 2.
