No. 70 Ryan Anderson
Wake Forest – C
Wake Forest returns all five starting offensive linemen this season, a group that features four redshirt seniors, among them, tackle Justin Herron and center Ryan Anderson. Herron allowed zero sacks in 469 pass-blocking snaps last year, the most snaps without a sack allowed among returning FBS tackles, and Anderson (below) allowed only four quarterback pressures on 414 pass-blocking snaps while posting the fifth-highest pass-blocking efficiency in the country at 99.3.
A group that good needs a name: Beef Boys.
"That’s our label, that’s who we are. Beef Boys. Certified beef," said A'lique Terry, who was the only senior lineman on last year's roster but was medically disqualified due to concussions.
Herron narrowly missed "Best No. 75 in college football" to Clemson's Mitch Hyatt but Ryan Anderson is the best No. 70, edging USC's Chuma Edoga, Arkansas State's Lanard Bonner and others.
Anderson is a 6-foot-5, 305-pound former two-star recruit who accepted his lone scholarship offer. He was the 277th-ranked offensive tackle in the 2014 class and began his career at center before playing right tackle the last two years. Anderson moved back to center after the graduation of Josh Harris and earned All-ACC honors.
