DUKES DANCE OVER SETON HALL
While there was dismay at Forbes and Bigelow this weekend, the scene a couple miles east at Forbes and Magee was much more joyous.
For their first ever NCAA D1 women’s basketball tournament game, BR-47 Duquesne sure made a good first impression. The Dukes made easy work of BR-46 Seton Hall in a 97-76 first round win in Storrs, Conn.
“What a game that was tonight for us,” said Duquesne head coach Dan Burt. “The contributions that we had from so many different players that don’t always show up in a box score. Just a complete team effort tonight, a complete team win. I could not be more proud or happier for our team and our university today.”
And that next one is going to be a challenging one: the three-time defending champions BR-1 Connecticut Huskies.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Duquesne is going to pull off the upset on Monday night. Whether or not that actually happens is open to debate, but somebody out there has to be bold to make that statement. Might as well be me…
