2017 NFL Draft: Florida State Seminoles Top Prospects

florida-state-logo (2)The 2017 NFL Draft will see talented college football players finding new homes in the NFL come April. Among them are several stars off the roster of the Florida State Seminoles.

Last year, Florida State saw cornerback Jalen Ramsey go to the Jacksonville Jaguars with the fifth overall pick, and later saw kicker Roberto Aguayo (second round, 59th overall) become the highest drafted kicker since 2005.

In 2015, the Seminoles had 11 players drafted, including No. 1 overall selection Jameis Winston and 19th overall pick Cameron Erving.

This season, Florida State will likely add a few more high draft picks to their recent success.

HEROSports.com's NFL Draft Analyst Todd Worly has ranked four Florida State prospects in the Top 90 prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Here are his assessments of each player:

No. 31: Dalvin Cook, RB

Cook’s explosiveness, top-end speed and hands will be music to any NFL offensive coordinator’s ears. His power, elusiveness, and ability in pass protection not being better than they currently are caused him to fall behind Leonard Fournette, Christian McCaffrey and D'Onta Foreman on this list.

No. 62: DeMarcus Walker, DE

Walker capped his career in Tallahassee in style, racking up 68 tackles and an eye-popping 21.5 tackles for loss and 16 sacks in 2016. He projects best as a 3-4 defensive end.

No. 87: Travis Rudolph, WR

The former Seminole has the explosiveness, suddenness, feet and top-end speed to create separation and stretch a defense, and good — not great — hands to go along with that. Rudolph may need to fill out a little physically in order to develop into a starter in the NFL.

No. 88: Roderick Johnson, OT

Johnson was the recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, given to the ACC’s most outstanding blocker, for the second straight year in 2016. Johnson’s length, explosiveness and hands in pass pro stand out the most. He’ll need to prove that he has the feet and knee bend required to develop into a starting tackle in the NFL, but the potential is certainly there.
