Marshawn Kneeland was projected by some draft experts to be a first-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. He certainly shined while playing in the MAC.
Instead, the former Western Michigan EDGE rusher fell all the way to No. 56 overall. That’s where the Dallas Cowboys picked him on Friday night.
Here’s what that means for Kneeland’s first pro contract.
Marshawn Kneeland’s Contract Details
Kneeland is projected to be able to sign a four-year, $6.8 million contract with the Cowboys, according to Spotrac. Kneeland’s deal could include a $1.8 million signing bonus and an average annual value of $1.7 million.
There’s a limit for NFL rookie contracts depending on when players are drafted, so there likely won’t be much negotiating needed.
Kneeland was the second Group of Five prospect off the board in this year’s draft and the second from the MAC, as Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell went to the Eagles in the first round.
