The 212 players on active rosters of the AFC and NFC Championship teams — Chiefs, Patriots, Rams and Saints — came from 116 different colleges, though 27 percent of all players come from 10 schools (above).
Ohio State has the most, largely thanks to the Saints, who have six Buckeyes: Eli Apple, Vonn Bell, Kurt Coleman, Ted Ginn Jr., Marshon Lattimore and Michael Thomas. Ohio State players account for more than 4 percent of all championship players.
SMU is the only Group of Five school with more than three players, and no Big 12 program has more than three (Oklahoma).
