Cal football has submitted an entry for Uniform of the Year.
Four days after the Golden Bears opened the season with a huge road win at North Carolina, they unveiled uniforms that honor former player Joe Roth.
Roth appeared in 22 games at quarterback from 1975-76, throwing for 21 touchdowns and nearly 3,700 yards. He played the 1976 season with melanoma — which he did not reveal publicly until after the season — and died just three months after his final game.

The program has honored him with hundreds of tributes, small and large, over the last four decades, including retiring his No. 12 number in 1977 and wearing throwback uniforms 10 years ago. They're bringing back those throwback uniforms on Sept. 23 against USC.
