Losing streaks are not commonplace in the Samford men’s hoops program. Already coming off a loss to ETSU, the Bulldogs’ loss to Chattanooga last Saturday was their second in a row. They’ve lost consecutive games only twice in the last two years. Samford looks to bounce back when it visits Wofford today. The losses put the Bulldogs in second place in the Southern Conference standings with a record of 19-7 and 9-4.
The Terriers (14-12, 8-5) are right behind the Bulldogs and have won their last two.
These teams met on Jan. 25 with Samford picking up a 77-61 win.

Samford at Wofford Prediction
I predict Samford gets the win. I also predict this game goes over 148.5 points.
I just can’t envision this Samford squad losing three games in a row and I expect them to get back to scoring and getting easy baskets like we’re accustomed to seeing.
The Bulldogs are the highest-scoring team in the SoCon, averaging 82.8 points per game. They’re scoring 68.5 PPG in their current losing skid.
Per KenPom, 40% of Samford’s scoring comes from 3-pointers and they’ve struggled shooting the last two games, knocking down just 25% of their shots from the outside. Wofford allows its opponents to shoot 34.7% from 3, which isn’t bad but isn’t that great, either.
I think the Bulldogs’ physicality and pressure defense might pose some problems for the Terriers, as well. Wofford struggled against The Citadel’s physicality at times in its last game and gave up 17 points off turnovers. That’s an area where the Bulldogs thrive — forcing turnovers and turning them into points.
Samford forces a turnover on 21.4% of its opponents’ possessions while the Terriers turn the ball over on 17.3% of their possessions. The Bulldogs’ physical defense also results in a ton of fouls. They lead the SoCon with 18 fouls per game. Sending the Terriers to the free-throw line might not be the worst thing in the world, though, as they shoot just 64.7% from the stripe.
The Bulldogs don’t do a great job of taking care of the ball and turn it over 13 times per game. They have 29 total turnovers over their last two losses, so I think taking care of the ball will be a bigger point of emphasis entering this game.
Samford is led by Jaden Brownell, who averages 13.7 points and four rebounds per game. Trey Fort averages 13.3 PPG and 3.5 RPG, and Rylan Jones chips in with 11.3 PPG and 5.3 APG.
Six-foot-3 senior guard Corey Tripp leads the Terriers with 13.8 PPG, and Dillon Bailey adds 11.9 PPG. Kyler Filewich leads the conference with 9.3 RPG and adds 11.4 PPG.
Wofford has proven to be one of the tougher teams in the conference this season, but I think the Bulldogs will be too eager to get a win here and end their losing skid.
Samford is 12-12 against the spread this season while Wofford is 12-14.
