Saint Louis will put its 15-game winning streak on the line when visiting Davidson in Tuesday’s Atlantic 10 matchup.
Entering Monday, Saint Louis (21-1, 9-0) was leading the nation in scoring margin — 23.9 PPG. The Billikens have gone more than two months since suffering their lone loss, 78-77 to Stanford on a neutral court on Nov. 28.
Saint Louis is coming off one of its most impressive performances of the season, Friday’s 102-71 home victory over Dayton. The Billikens entered the game as an 11.5-point favorite.
For the second straight game, sophomore guard Trey Green scored 23 points, which is his career high. In the last two games, Green has shot 16-for-26 from the field, including 13-of-20 (.650) from three-point range. Not surprisingly, he was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week. Saint Louis and Dayton have met 75 times, and the 102 points were the most ever against the Flyers. With Green leading the way, Saint Louis shot 17-for-28 from three-point range (.607).

Saint Louis at Davidson Prediction
I like Saint Louis to cover.
It’s interesting that both teams are coming off one of their best showings of the season. While Saint Louis is the nation’s leader in scoring margin, Davidson has a scoring margin of 3.3 points, more than 20 fewer than the Billikens.
Not only is Saint Louis first in the Atlantic 10 in scoring (91.7 PPG), but the Billikens are third in scoring defense, allowing 67.5 points per game.
Davidson averages 71.9 points, while allowing 68.5.
This will be a game of tempo, and Davidson will likely try to slow things down. Entering Monday, Saint Louis had an adjusted tempo of 71.1 according to KenPom.com. Adjusted tempo is possessions per 40 minutes. The Billikens were 23rd nationally entering Monday. Davidson’s adjusted tempo is 63.5, which is 343rd nationally.
Saint Louis entered Monday fourth nationally in fast-break points, with 18.95 per game. Davidson ranked 312th, averaging just 7.81 per game.
One area where Davidson has an edge is in the turnover department. The Wildcats have a 1.29 turnover margin, while Saint Louis is surprisingly at -0.27. For the Davidson to have any chance of being competitive, the Wildcats must take care of the ball.
Robbie Avila, a 6-foot-10 senior, leads a balanced Saint Louis attack in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game. Saint Louis has seven players averaging between 9.5 and 12.8 points. Avila also leads the Billikens in assists (4.0) and is shooting .467 from behind the arc. Green averages 12.3 points and shoots .482 from deep.
We should see plenty of long-distance shooting in this game. Saint Louis leads the conference in three-point percentage (.405), while Davidson is second (.370). These are also two of the top three-point defensive teams in the conference. Saint Louis is allowing opponents to shoot .269, while Davidson is holding opponents to a .323 clip.
Blums, despite not starting a game, leads Davidson in scoring (11.8 PPG) while 6-foot-6 junior Josh Scovens is the other double-figure scorer (10.4 PPG). Yet another reserve, 6-foot-7 redshirt junior Hunter Adam, is shooting .448 from deep, while Blums shoots .430.
Davidson will use a lot of players in hopes of wearing Saint Louis down. The Wildcats have 10 players averaging between 13 and 25 minutes per game.
Saint Louis is 5-0 on the road and 7-5 at home.
