The Colorado State men’s basketball team is heading to the 2025 NCAA Tournament after winning the Mountain West Conference. In the MWC tourney, it defeated Nevada 67-59, Utah State 83-72, and Boise State 69-56 in the championship game to clinch the auto-bid.
The Rams are 26-9 this season and on a 10-game winning streak.
Colorado State NCAA Tournament Appearances
In 2025, Colorado State basketball will make its 13th appearance in the Division 1 NCAA Tournament.
The Rams also reached the tourney in 1954, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1969, 1989, 1990, 2003, 2012, 2013, 2022, and 2024.

Colorado State Basketball NCAA Tournament Wins
Colorado State has won six games in the Division 1 NCAA Tournament. The Rams defeated Dayton and Colorado in 1969, Florida in 1989, Missouri in 2013, Virginia in 2024, and Memphis in 2025.
Their overall record in the Big Dance is 6-14.
Colorado State Basketball Coach Niko Medved Salary
Niko Medved has an annual base salary of $1.7 million as Colorado State’s head basketball coach. A buyout of about $3.7 million is owed to get him out of his contract through 2030-31.
Medved has led Colorado State since 2018, featuring three NCAA Tournament appearances. The Rams reached at least 20 wins in 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2023-24, and 2024-25.
He previously was the head coach at Drake in 2017-18 and at Furman from 2013 to 2017. In 2017, Medved was named the SoCon Coach of the Year. His last assistant coaching job before his head coaching stints was at Colorado State from 2007-13.
