The Hofstra men’s basketball team is heading to the 2026 NCAA Tournament after winning the Coastal Athletic Association. In the CAA Tourney, the Pride defeated William & Mary 92-61, Towson 68-65 in overtime, and Monmouth 75-69 in the championship game.
The Pride is 24-10 overall entering the Big Dance and on a 7-game winning streak.
Hofstra NCAA Tournament Appearances
In 2026, Hofstra basketball will make its 5th appearance in the Division I NCAA Tournament.
The Pride also reached the tourney in 1976, 1977, 2000, and 2001. They qualified for the 2020 tournament, but it was canceled due to COVID.

Hofstra Basketball NCAA Tournament Wins
Hofstra has not won a game in the Division I NCAA Tournament, losing to UConn in 1976, Notre Dame in 1977, Oklahoma State in 2000, and UCLA in 2001.
The Pride has a 0-4 overall record in the Big Dance.
Hofstra Basketball Coach Speedy Claxton
Speedy Claxton is in his fifth season as Hofstra’s head coach, being named the 13th HC in program history on April 7, 2021.
He first joined the Hofstra staff in 2013 as a special assistant to the head coach before becoming an assistant coach in 2014. Hofstra has hit at least 20 wins in four of Claxton’s five seasons leading the charge.
Claxton is a former Hofstra standout, playing from 1996 to 2000. He was a two-time Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American and led the Pride to the 2000 NCAA Tournament.
