The Penn men’s basketball team is heading to the 2026 NCAA Tournament after winning the Ivy League. In the Ivy League Tournament, the Quakers defeated Harvard 62-60 in overtime and Yale 88-84 in the championship game, also in overtime.
The Quakers are 18-11 entering the Big Dance and on a 5-game winning streak.
Penn NCAA Tournament Appearances
In 2026, Penn basketball will make its 25th appearance in the Division I NCAA Tournament.
The Quakers also reached the tourney in 1953, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2018.

Penn Basketball NCAA Tournament Wins
Penn has won 13 games in the Division I NCAA Tournament, defeating DePaul in 1953, Duquesne and South Carolina in 1971, Providence and Villanova in 1972, St. John’s in 1973, St. Bonaventure in 1978, Iona, North Carolina, Syracuse, and St. John’s in 1979, Washington State in 1980, and Nebraska in 1994.
The Quakers have a 13-26 overall record in the Big Dance.
Penn Sweet 16 Appearances
Penn has reached the Sweet 16 six times, appearing in 1953, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1978, and 1979.
The 1979 season also saw an appearance in the Final Four.
