The UNC Wilmington men’s basketball team is heading to the 2025 NCAA Tournament after winning the Coastal Athletic Association. In the CAA Tourney, it defeated Hampton 79-65, Charleston 68-67, and Delaware 76-72 in the championship game to clinch the auto-bid.
The Seahawks are 27-7 overall this season and on a six-game winning streak. This is their seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their first since 2017.

In 2025, UNC Wilmington basketball is making its seventh appearance in the Division 1 NCAA Tournament.
The Seahawks also reached the tourney in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2016, and 2017.

UNC Wilmington has won one game in the Division 1 NCAA Tournament, beating USC 93–89 in 2002. Its overall record in the Big Dance is 1-6.
UNC Wilmington Basketball Coach Takayo Siddle Salary
Takayo Siddle has a base salary of $300,000 a year, plus incentives, as UNC Wilmington’s head coach.
Advancing to the NCAA Tournament comes with a $25,000 bonus.
Siddle has been UNCW’s head coach since 2020. Before that, he was an NC State assistant from 2017 to 2020. Siddle served as an assistant at UNCW from 2014 to 2017.
The Seahawks have enjoyed four straight 20-win seasons, finishing 27-9 in 2021-22, 24-10, 21-10, and 27-7 this year.
