The Utah State men’s basketball team is heading to the 2026 NCAA Tournament after winning the Mountain West. In the Mountain West tourney, it defeated UNLV 80-60, Nevada 79-66, and San Diego State 73-62 in the championship game.
The Aggies are 28-6 entering the Big Dance. They finished 15-5 in the MWC standings.

In 2026, Utah State basketball is making its 26th appearance in the Division 1 NCAA Tournament.
The Aggies also reached the tourney in 1939, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1970, 1971, 1975, 1979, 1980, 1983, 1988, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025. They qualified in 2020 before COVID canceled the tournament.

Utah State Basketball NCAA Tournament Wins
Utah State has won eight games in the Division 1 NCAA Tournament. The Aggies defeated Texas in 1939, Arizona State in 1962, Arizona State in 1964, UTEP and Santa Clara in 1970, Ohio State in 2001, TCU in 2024, and Villanova in 2026.
Their overall record in the Big Dance is 8-27.
Utah State Basketball Coach Jerrod Calhoun Salary
Jerrod Calhoun has a 2025-26 salary of $1,550,000 as Utah State’s head basketball coach.
Calhoun is in his second season at Utah State, being named the head coach on March 30, 2024. He had spent the previous seven seasons as Youngstown State’s head coach, totaling a 118-106 record. In his last two seasons at YSU, the Penguins were 46-20, notching consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in their Division I history.
Before YSU, Calhoun was the head coach at Fairmont State for five seasons from 2013 to 2017, reaching four NCAA Division II Tournaments with a 2017 national runner-up finish.
