Urban Meyer tried a motivational tactic during Florida's 2006 season: Create fake media quotes to rile up his team. It worked as the Gators rolled to a 13-1 record and their first national championship
"I think every coach in the country looks for an angle," Kirk Herbstreit said this week. "Urban Meyer in '06, he just used to make stuff up, just throw it out on their hotel meeting rooms and somebody would say something and they would just say, oh, just put it on Herbstreit or ESPN or whoever . . . would be a fake quote just to get his team mad."
