The committee must decide what punishment fits the crimes of Ohio State and Penn State, and, more importantly, who to move up thanks to the losses and how much they should reward Miami (FL), for example, after an impressive victory.
Here are the Week 11 College Football Playoff rankings predictions from the HERO Sports staff, followed by explanations for the rankings:
A. Doughty | J. Churchill | A. Coffaro | J. Oxley |
---|---|---|---|
1. Alabama | 1. Georgia | 1. Alabama | 1. Alabama |
2. Georgia | 2. Alabama | 2. Georgia | 2. Georgia |

4. Clemson | 4. Clemson | 4. Oklahoma | 4. Clemson |
5. Oklahoma | 5. Oklahoma | 5. Clemson | 5. Oklahoma |
6. Miami (FL) | 6. TCU | 6. Miami (FL) | 6. TCU |
7. TCU | 7. Wisconsin | 7. Wisconsin | 7. Miami (FL) |
8. Wisconsin | 8. Miami (FL) | 8. TCU | 8. Wisconsin |
9. Washington | 9. Washington | 9. Washington | 9. Washington |
10. Auburn | 10. Auburn | 10. Auburn | 10. USC |
Doughty: Given how close Kirby Hocutt said the discussion was between Alabama and Georgia for the top two spots in Week 11, I'm betting the Tide leap the Bulldogs thanks to a more impressive win. Elsewhere, Notre Dame, Clemson and Oklahoma stay in line after wins, and Miami (FL) hops both TCU and Wisconsin thanks to a dominating win over Virginia Tech.
Churchill: Georgia stays atop the rankings by a slim margin. Notre Dame, Clemson and Oklahoma don't move after each picked up wins, — though it's tempting to move Clemson up a notch with a tough road win. Then the next three move up one spot respectively after Ohio State gave up 55 points to Iowa. The Buckeyes gave up 55 points. To Iowa.
Coffaro: If Alabama doesn’t leapfrog over Georgia this week, they could soon with top-25 squads Mississippi State and Auburn on the schedule. Speaking of the Tigers, they’ll get their shot to shock the world on Saturday when the Bulldogs come to Jordan-Hare. Miami moves up after its most impressive win of the season over Virginia Tech to set up an epic showdown on Saturday against Notre Dame.
Oxley: The CFP top four from last week should stay the same after all four teams took care of business, with Alabama likely moving into the top spot after taking down LSU. The Big Ten stubbed its toe with both Ohio State and Penn State losing, opening the door for the Pac-12 to work a team back into the mix.
