Midway through the third quarter of their Week 1 game at Nevada, Purdue quarterback Elijah Sindelar connected with David Bell on a 49-yard touchdown. The Boilermakers' third touchdown of at least 38 yards in the last 12 minutes extended their lead back to 17 points, 31-14, and appeared to put them in a good position for a season-opening win.
Purdue didn't score again. Nevada, meanwhile, scored a lot.
After the Sindelar-Bell touchdown capped a two-play, 75-yard drive, Purdue's offense fell off a cliff. They gained 55 total yards on 24 plays across four drives, committed two turnovers and threw two interceptions. Their final offensive play was Sindelar's second interception of the game that set up the Wolf Pack's game-winning drive, finished by freshman walk-on kicker Brandon Talton, who nailed a 56-yarder with no time remaining.
