D2 Football HERO Joby Saint-Fleur of Northwestern Oklahoma Talks Ranger Football, JJ Watt, and Three Stooges

In Week 6 of D2 football, BR-147 Northwestern Oklahoma defensive lineman Joby Saint-Fleur played a monster game against BR-123 Southeastern Oklahoma. Recording seven tackles and four sacks, he was clearly a big reason why his team won the game 31-16. The votes were cast, you named him HERO of the Week, and now you’re about to get a look at Saint-Fleur on a larger scale than just that one football game. Check out what makes our Defensive HERO of the Week so special:

HERO: Congrats on getting HERO of the Week! Talk us through that game, when did you know you were having a great game? Did you feel any different going into it/or during?

JSF: Thank you, I couldn’t have done it without my Ranger Family and friends voting for me. Well as the game went on I realized I had to capitalize on my opportunity that was given to me. It all started when I got my first two sacks and I noticed I was off to a great start. As the game went on I felt extra confident as I started to figure out what my opponent was doing.

What are your personal goals moving forward?

My personal goal is to continue to get better and help my team WIN games. Mainly, as I go into every game I’m looking to do better than the previous week.

What’s your favorite part of being a part of the Northwestern Oklahoma team?

I have to say my favorite part about being a part of Northwestern is that we have the most supporting community by far when it comes to supporting student athlete events. There is this family bond that is created between everyone which involves supporting you on the field and off the field. Also, being able to form a brotherhood with most of the guys I came in with.

What’s your favorite team bonding activity?

My favorite team bonding has to be during the off season when all the guys that feel like they can play basketball go out and have a game of 5 on 5 to see who’s the best. I have to say who ever picks me up on their team will win because the competitiveness does not stop when it comes to winning.

If you could play any position on offense, what would it be and why?

If I could play any position on offense it would probably have to be at the offensive tackle position to see what they go through day in and day out.

Do you have any pre-game rituals or routines?

My pre-game ritual is that I like to relax and be in my own zone thinking about what I may get from the man I am lining up against. I listen to the 2000’s hip-hop radio station on Pandora and  I always PRAY before every game asking God to lead me on the field as I follow him.

What are your plans after football?

My plan after football is to try and play at the  professional level. If that does not work out for me I plan on getting a  job with my degree and try to make a living out of it. Maybe a part-time coach on the side to share my knowledge I have learned with the youngins.

What’s a skill or hobby you have outside of football?

My hobby outside football is I like to get away from everything and go to the gym and workout. Other times I’ll just talk on the phone to the people that matter the most.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever made by yourself?

Aww man I haven’t cooked too many meals by myself but when I do it has to be white rice, baked beans, and fried chicken with some Mac and Cheese.

Favorite NFL player ever and why?

My favorite NFL player right now would have to be JJ Watt; he’s playing at a whole different level than anyone has ever seen before. He plays hard every play from the first snap to the last snap.

Favorite TV show and which character from it?

My favorite TV show is The Three Stooges, this show goes way back to when I was young watching it. I have to say the character I would choose out of the three would have to be Moe Howard because he was the smartest one out of the three. He would correct the other two when they make dumb mistakes.

Favorite sports movie?

My favorite sports movie has to be Coach Carter. He took the initiative to show the group of guys that things are not just going to be handed to you in life, you have to work hard to get it.

What’s playing most on your iPod right now?

Right now there’s nothing playing on my iPhone but if it was it probably would be some Drake.
