Bowling Green was one of the hottest teams in the Group of Five during the last half of the regular season.
The Falcons began the year by going 1-3 overall, but two of those losses were against Penn State and Texas A&M, and all three of them were by a touchdown or less.
Then BGSU went 6-2 in MAC play, which included a five-game winning streak. But the Falcons ended the regular season with a 28-12 loss against Miami (Ohio) at home, which kept BGSU out of the conference championship game.
The Falcons will hope to respond in the 68 Ventures Bowl against Arkansas State, but that won’t be easy.
The Red Wolves were one of the best teams in the Sun Belt West this year. They started off 2-2 overall, only losing to Michigan and Iowa State. Then they battled for a 5-3 record in conference play.
After losing the Camellia Bowl last year, Arkansas State will be looking for its first bowl win since Butch Jones became the team’s head coach.

Arkansas State vs. Bowling Green Prediction
I predict Bowling Green will win and cover the spread at -10. I also project the game will go Under 53.5 total points.
The Falcons were very strong on defense this season. I think their performance on that side of the ball will help them win in a low-scoring contest.
Bowling Green was in the top 30 in the FBS with 20.3 points and 328.9 yards allowed per contest. Arkansas State was out of the top 100 in both categories.
I also like how the Falcons have been playing the past couple months. Other than a 14-point defeat against Miami (Ohio) at home to end the regular season, Bowling Green hasn’t lost since mid-October.
I expect the Falcons will continue that momentum going into this clash.
