Akron has gone 2-10 each of the last two years and is looking to make its first bowl game appearance since 2017. And while the Zips may have a chance to be competitive against MAC teams this year, pulling off a win in their season opener is going to be difficult.

I predict Ohio State will win and cover the spread at -50.5. I also predict the game will go Over 58.5 total points.
Akron has a brutal non-conference schedule this year with games against Ohio State, Rutgers, and South Carolina all on the road. But this one will likely be the toughest contest all year for the Zips.
There’s little reason to believe Ohio State won’t roll through this game with ease. Maybe the Buckeyes struggle to find their footing early because it’s their first game of the year. But with an offense led by quarterback Will Howard and running back Quinshon Judkins, I don’t see that happening.
Ohio State might be leading by 40 points at halftime in this one. The Buckeyes might even be able to score 59 points by themselves.
