Alex Harkey was playing tight end at a junior college at this time five years ago. Now he’s being looked at as an NFL offensive lineman.
It was far from an easy path to this point. Harkey moved to offensive line, played at Colorado, then carved out a starting role at Texas State and earned all-conference recognition.
Then he went to Oregon and proved to be one of the top offensive linemen in the Big Ten. His time with the Ducks will surely make NFL executives consider picking him in the middle rounds of this year’s draft.
Alex Harkey NFL Draft Projection
I project Alex Harkey will be selected in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft. He might be a good fit for the Philadelphia Eagles or the Cincinnati Bengals.
Harkey is an accomplished offensive lineman who can play in different styles of offense. As evidenced by him playing tight end when he began his collegiate career, he has the athleticism to play tackle or could move to guard.

Alex Harkey was measured at 6-foot-5, 313 pounds at the NFL Combine.
Alex Harkey Stats & Highlights
Harkey’s collegiate career was never clear cut or straightforward. But he kept going and is now an NFL prospect.
He started out at Tyler Junior College as a tight end before transitioning to the offensive line. He then went to Colorado where he played 34 snaps at right guard.
But he found his place at Texas State the following two seasons. He played 31 snaps at right tackle and 27 at tight end as a sophomore in 2023. Then he made the All-Sun Belt third team in 2024 playing mostly at right tackle.
Harkey of course finished his collegiate career at Oregon, where he was an All-Big Ten honorable mention in 2025. He made 14 starts at right tackle last year.

Alex Harkey NFL Draft Profile & Comparison
My NFL comparison for Alex Harkey is Peter Skoronski of the Tennessee Titans. This isn’t to say I think Harkey will be a Day 1 draft pick. But both played tackle in college – Skoronski moved to guard in the NFL – and are known for their physicality at the point of attack.
I could also see Harkey playing guard in the NFL, in part because of his arm length at 31.75 inches which is short for a pro tackle. But I think he would be a pretty solid guard.
In 2024, Harkey ranked 12th in Pro Football Focus’ grades for offensive tackles and was tied for 13th for run blocking. And that makes sense considering how strong he is in the run game.
Harkey didn’t grade as well in 2025, but he only gave up two sacks last season. In fact, after 1,855 snaps played over his collegiate career, he gave up five sacks in total.
I could see Harkey being a solid backup in the NFL because of his mentality and experience.
