Outside of the shortened 2020 season, Miami (Ohio) has played in a bowl game each year since 2019. The only year the RedHawks didn’t win more than six games during that span was in 2022 where they finished 6-7 after losing to UAB in the Bahamas Bowl.
College football betting odds have Miami’s win total at Over/Under 6.5 games, with the Over at +115 and the Under at -135. The RedHawks have one of the hardest schedules in the MAC and start the campaign with three tough non-conference contests against a pair of Big Ten teams and another Group of Five squad.
How Many Games Will The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks Win In 2025?
After trips to Wisconsin and Rutgers to open the season, the RedHawks will have a Week 3 bye followed by back-to-back home games against UNLV and Lindenwood. I think Miami will win two of these games and will be 2-2 entering conference play.
The RedHawks start MAC play with two road games at Northern Illinois and at Akron, followed by two home games against Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. I like Miami to win all four of these contests for a 4-0 start in league play. The biggest test here will likely come against NIU. The RedHawks have won the last four and are 4-2 against the Huskies under head coach Chuck Martin.
Miami will then have its second off week ahead of what’s the toughest stretch of its season. Out of the bye, the RedHawks will play at Ohio, host Toledo, and then visit Buffalo. These are the three teams with the shortest odds to win the MAC title. All three contests will also be weeknight MACtion, meaning there should be some quality games to look forward to on Tuesday and Wednesday nights in November.
I think the RedHawks come away from this stretch with one win, and it comes against Toledo. I don’t expect a win over Ohio, and Miami is 15-3 following MAC losses since 2016. They tend to bounce back from conference losses.
To close out the season, Miami hosts Ball State, which I think will be another victory, and one that’s potentially needed to clinch a bowl berth.
How Many Games Will The Miami (Ohio) RedHawks Lose In 2025?
Like I mentioned above, I anticipate Miami to start the season 2-2, with losses to Wisconsin and either Rutgers or UNLV. The RedHawks are much better at home (36-20) than on the road (25-40) under Martin, so I like their chances against UNLV more so than against Rutgers.
While the RedHawks are probably eager to avenge last season’s loss to Ohio in the MAC title game, I don’t know if they’ll go into Athens and pick up a win in this edition of the “Battle of the Bricks”.
Miami also faces a tough test when it travels to what’s anticipated to be an improved Buffalo squad. The RedHawks haven’t had the greatest luck playing at Buffalo and are 2-6 since 2008, with the most recent win coming in 2016. I think they lose again on this trip.
Miami (Ohio) Win Total Prediction
I predict Miami will do enough in conference play to win seven games, but the non-conference slate will be the deciding factor. There’s a chance the RedHawks start the season 1-3, and there’s also the chance they go 3-1.
I think going 2-2 during that stretch will be enough to help push them Over 6.5 wins, meaning they’ll have to win five conference games to get to seven regular season victories. Miami has won less than five league games only twice since 2016 and went 4-4 both times.
