After three consecutive seasons going 3-9, Louisiana Tech broke that streak last year and finished 5-7 in the regular season. The Bulldogs were then selected to play in the Independence Bowl against Army following Marshall’s withdrawal from the game. The Bulldogs lost 27-6.
From 2014-19, the Bulldogs had six consecutive winning seasons and six consecutive bowl wins under Skip Holtz. Now in Sonny Cumbie’s fourth season leading the program, can Louisiana Tech get to six wins?
College football betting odds have the Bulldogs’ win total at Over/Under 5.5 entering the 2025 campaign, with the Over at -160 and the Under at +130.

Louisiana Tech Football Schedule Analysis
The Bulldogs don’t have to leave the state for the first four weeks of the season when they host Southeastern Louisiana for an FCS matchup and then visit LSU in Week 2. Up next are home matchups against New Mexico State and Southern Miss. I think the Bulldogs win two of these three home games, probably the contests against SLU and NMSU. The Bulldogs won’t have another home game until late October, though.
Following the Week 4 matchup with Southern Miss, LA Tech visits UTEP. Sandwiched between a pair of bye weeks is a Week 7 trip to Kennesaw State. I like the Bulldogs to win both of these Conference USA matchups. They’ve had a lot of success against UTEP, leading the series 17-3 and are 9-1 all time playing in El Paso. The Miners could very easily come away with a win here, though.
LA Tech plays Sam Houston for a Friday night homecoming game on Halloween which I think the Bulldogs will win. They are 0-2 against SHSU since the Bearkats joined Conference USA.
The Bulldogs’ final month of the season features three of four games on the road. The first is a trip to new conference foe Delaware prior to a visit to Washington State. For those wondering, that will be a total of 6,834 miles traveled over that two-week stretch.
Still, I expect LA Tech to get a win over Delaware and then another over Missouri State to close out the season.
How Many Games Will Louisiana Tech Lose In 2025?
I think LA Tech will start the season 2-2 with losses to LSU and Southern Miss early on.
Especially because of the brutal travel schedule, I don’t anticipate LA Tech will go to Pullman, Washington, and pull off an upset over WSU.
Louisiana Tech Football Win Total Prediction
The non-conference slate isn’t light at all, but I still think the Bulldogs find a way to get to at least six wins.
There are two games on the schedule that weren’t mentioned above and that’s a home tilt with Western Kentucky, and then another with Liberty in the second-to-last game of the regular season.
I think both games could go either way but LA Tech finds a way to win at least one of them to go Over 5.5 wins.
