Kai Horton is Tulane’s backup quarterback and is in line to start Saturday against Ole Miss with Michael Pratt sidelined due to injury.
Horton is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound redshirt sophomore from Carthage, Texas. He’s played in eight games the past two years with one start. Tulane was HERO Sports’ No. 1-ranked Group of Five team going into Week 2.

Last year, Horton came off the bench and helped the Green Wave beat Houston in overtime. He completed 11 of 21 passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns in that game and finished the year 13-of-23 passing for 165 yards with no picks and three touchdowns.
Horton played in four games as a true freshman and started in one against Cincinnati. He completed 7 of 18 passes for 79 yards, zero touchdowns, and three picks in 2021.

Out of high school at Carthage, Horton was rated as a three-star prospect and ranked the 27th-best pro style quarterback in the country by 247Sports.
Pratt was expected to be a game-time decision after injuring his knee against South Alabama last week. He’s widely regarded as one of the best Group of Five quarterbacks this year.
Ole Miss was a 12.5-point favorite a half hour before kickoff.
