While Rice has steadily built toward being a respectable program in the AAC during Bloomgren’s time there, he proved he knows how to coach stellar offenses before his time at Rice.
He was an assistant head coach, offensive coordinator, and offensive line coach at different points while at Stanford from 2011-17. During that time, the Cardinal won at least eight games every year and won three Pac-12 Championships.
He coached 12 NFL Draft selections at Stanford, including star running back Christian McCaffrey.
Before going to Stanford, he was an assistant with the New York Jets from 2007-10. He was also an OC at Delta State (2005-06) and a co-offensive coordinator at Catawba College (2002-04).
Bloomgren was also an undergraduate assistant at Florida State and a grad assistant at Alabama.
