From his time as a walk-on to being an All-Sun Belt selection, Jamaal Pritchett consistently improved during his career at South Alabama. Pritchett spent one season at Division II Tuskegee University before making the South Alabama roster in 2022, where he mainly saw action on special teams.
Pritchett developed into a starter during his junior campaign and immediately showcased his big-play potential, snagging a reception of at least 20 yards in 10 of the 13 games he played in.

Pritchett ran a 4.42 at South Alabama’s Pro Day, according to the school. However, it was reported he was unofficially clocked as fast as 4.39 seconds by scouts. Either way, his speed was on display.

After catching just two passes in his sophomore season, Pritchett saw a drastic leap in production, hauling in 57 receptions for 883 yards and eight touchdowns in his junior year. He was tabbed as an All-Sun Belt honorable mention selection after having three 100-yard games and three games with two touchdown catches.
The Jackson, Alabama, product backed that up with a stellar senior season where he led the Sun Belt in receiving yards (1,126) while his 91 receptions were 15 more than anyone else in the conference. His nine receiving touchdowns were second-most in the league. Pritchett was named first-team all-conference and his play earned him an invite to the Senior Bowl.

Just get this guy in open space and good things will happen. Pritchett’s elite speed, quickness, and after-the-catch abilities are his biggest strengths.
Because of this, we saw Pritchett used during a lot of bubble screens and quick passes behind the line of scrimmage in an attempt to get him the ball with a few blockers in front. More often than not, he turned those opportunities into chunk plays. I expect an NFL team will try and utilize Pritchett in the same scenarios, and with the right play caller, he should be set up for success.
Pritchett also returned kickoffs and punts at South Alabama, so there’s potential for him to at least earn a roster spot as a special teamer while his role as an offensive contributor can grow.
His speed also provides the potential to take the top off a defense. However, it won’t be easy for him to get behind a secondary in the NFL, regardless of how easy he made it look in college. Pritchett could certainly expand his route tree and will likely need to work on winning against man coverage, especially as a smaller wideout. Even with his frame, he’s able to make catches or get that extra yard.
Pritchett’s ability to get better is an important quality, and that alone makes him an intriguing prospect. I think his ability to evolve — matched with his game-changing speed — will allow him to make the final cut on an NFL roster come August, and he could have an impact like KaVontae Turpin has had for the Dallas Cowboys.
