Washington State has certainly responded from its loss at Boise State earlier in the season.
The Cougars had won their first four games of the year, including victories over Texas Tech and Washington. Then when WSU lost by 21 points to Boise State, it seemed like the season could begin to change.
Instead, the Cougars have managed to win their last three contests and are ranked No. 21 in the Associated Press Top 25.
They have a chance to extend their winning streak when they take on another Mountain West opponent, Utah State, which is 2-6 on the season but recently snapped a six-game losing streak with a win over Wyoming.

I predict Washington State will win but Utah State will cover the spread at +20.5. I also project the game will go Under 70.5 total points.
I like how the Cougars are playing. They’ve been pretty consistent, and their only loss of the year was against a very talented team – Boise State. John Mateer is a good quarterback for the Cougars, so I expect them to be in control of this clash against USU. And WSU’s defense has been solid, so I don’t know if Utah State will score enough to make this game hit the Over.
But I also believe the Aggies are a team to be taken seriously. And now that they’ve won for the first time in several weeks, I expect them to go into this matchup with some confidence.
I could certainly see Washington State winning, maybe even by two touchdowns. But I also could see this game being closer than some are anticipating.
