The end of the calendar year is an exciting time for FBS college football. Many teams are looking ahead to conference championships and bowl games, and some even have their eyes set on making the College Football Playoff.
But it’s also an impactful time for the future, as many highly-recruited high school football prospects will make their decisions about where they want to continue their careers.
When Is Early Signing Day?
Early signing day for college football teams was on Dec. 20, 2023.
That’s when the early signing period began. It lasted through Dec. 22.
When Is National Signing Day For The Class of 2024?
College football’s national signing day was on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
That is also just the first day of the regular signing period. It lasts until April 1 for Division I players.
When Does the Transfer Portal Open?
The transfer window for FBS and FCS players this year began Dec. 4 and was open for 30 days. Then a 15-day window will last from April 15 to April 30.
Players from the FBS or FCS have a 30-day window the Monday after FBS conference championship games, and anyone playing in postseasons like the College Football Playoff, FCS Championship, or bowl games will get an extra five days in January. Then the second window in late April will give athletes another chance to enter the portal.
College athletes in all sports have 45 total days in the year to enter the transfer portal.
When Can Graduate Transfers Move On?
Football players who will be graduate transfers and will be transferring for the first time have to give notification of their intentions by May 1.
