2020 FCS Jersey Countdown: 7 — The Best Player Who Wears No. 7 Is Sacred Heart’s Julius Chestnut

Sacred Heart Athletics

Welcome to the 2020 FCS Jersey Countdown.

Throughout the May-September months, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-1. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2019 season.

The full countdown can be found here.

*Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2019 rosters.

7: Julius Chestnut, RB (Jr.) — Sacred Heart

Chestnut has been a highly-productive player for Sacred Heart since arriving on campus. He was named the NEC Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018 after rushing for 713 yards and seven touchdowns off of 116 carries.

With good size at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, Chestnut was the workhorse back last season, toting the rock 293 times for 1,495 yards and 11 touchdowns. He added 179 yards receiving and another two TDs.

His 1,495 rushing yards and 124.6 rushing yards per game ranked No. 3 in the FCS. Chestnut earned Third Team All-American honors from STATS and the AP.

He enters 2020 a HERO Sports Preseason Third Team All-American.
