Welcome to the 2021 FCS Jersey Countdown.
Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 28, HERO Sports is going to name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on the 2020 fall-2021 spring season.
The 99-0 countdown central page can be found here.
Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2020 fall-2021 spring rosters.
97: Brevin Allen, DL (Sr.) — Campbell
Allen has scary explosiveness off of the edge with his 6-foot-4 and 255-pound frame. With some FBS recruiting interest (getting offers from Coastal Carolina and East Carolina), Allen chose Campbell and developed into a force within two years.
As a true sophomore in 2019, he totaled 54 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks. Allen was named to the All-Big South Second Team.
Campbell played just four games in 2020-21, all of them coming against FBS opponents in the fall. It allowed for a guy like Allen to show what he can do against the top subdivision in college football, and he totaled 17 tackles.
With a full slate of games this fall, Allen will have plenty of chances to show he’s one of the top rushers in the FCS, especially against opponents like FBS Liberty, the CAA’s Elon, Big South powers Monmouth and Kennesaw State, and FCS power James Madison
