71: Evan Roussel, OL (So.) — Nicholls
As a junior in high school, Roussel was named his district’s offensive MVP … as an offensive lineman. You have to be downright dominant on the line to be honored as the best offensive player, no matter the level of football.
So it’s no surprise Roussel was able to step in and start at center as a true freshman for Nicholls. Not only is that spot physically demanding for a youngster, but it also requires a lot of ability between the ears.
Roussel was fantastic in his debut season, earning First Team All-Southland Conference and HERO Sports Freshman All-American honors during the spring. The 6-foot-2, 280-pounder helped a Nicholls offense finish third in the FCS with 263.4 rushing yards per game behind the option attacks of Davidson (280 YPG) and Kennesaw State (268 YPG).
