Welcome to the 2022 FCS Jersey Countdown.

Leading up to Week 0 games on Aug. 27, HERO Sports will name the best returning FCS player by jersey number, 99-0. Due to rosters being updated at different times for teams across the country and to keep things consistent, jersey numbers are based on last season’s rosters.

The 99-0 countdown central page can be found here.

Note: Jersey numbers are based on 2021 rosters.

88: Nathan Robertson, K (Sr.) — Kennesaw State

Specialists should never be undervalued. And Kennesaw hasn’t had to worry about its kicking position for several seasons with Nathan Robertson.

Robertson has been the full-time kickoff man since 2018 and the full-time placekicker since 2019. As a sophomore in 2019, he went 68-of-70 on PATs and 10-of-14 on field goals, including a program-record 46-yarder.

In the shortened 2021 spring season, Robertson was named to the All-Big South Conference First Team after hitting 5-of-7 field goals and all 19 PATs in four games.

Robertson was automatic last fall. He made all 45 PATs during the regular season and hit seven of 10 field goals, including breaking his own program record with a 48-yarder. Robertson earned All-Conference First Team honors again and was named the Big South Special Teams Player of the Year.

He is up to 227 career points. The program record is QB Chandler Burks’ 336 points from 2015-18. The Owls eye a deep playoff run this season as HERO Sports’ preseason No. 8 team. If they do play games into December, Robertson’s career points total will be one to watch as he closes in on Burks.
